About This Experience
This tour pairs Ireland's greatest medieval manuscript with its most famous cathedral. You'll begin at St Patrick's Cathedral and its garden park, where your expert guide tells the story of Ireland's patron saint and the 800-year-old church founded beside the well where he is said to have baptised converts.
From there you continue to Trinity College, founded in 1592 by Queen Elizabeth I, with priority timed-entry tickets to the Book of Kells. Your guide helps you discover the hidden secrets of the manuscript, which dates back to around 800 AD, and walk through the historic Old Library.

- Trinity College's Old Library is undergoing a major conservation project: most of the Long Room's 200,000 books have been temporarily removed for cleaning and cataloguing, and digital screens now show conservators at work. The Long Room remains open to visit through 2027, and the Book of Kells stays on display throughout.
- Tour length varies (about 3.5 hours) depending on whether the optional Guinness Storehouse add-on is selected.
- Dublin Castle's State Apartments and courtyards occasionally close at short notice for government and state events; on those days your guide covers the exterior and gardens instead.
- St Patrick's Cathedral is an active place of worship and may occasionally restrict access during services.
